In fifth grade we will learn about Earth systems, space, matter, and energy in Science. Students will explore design technology/engineering. In Social Studies, we will study the United States Constitution, Westward Expansion, and the Civil War. We will continue the Bridges Math program in fifth grade as well. Literacy will take on many forms as there is so much to read, write, and share!
We will have home/school research and presentation projects during the year. Reading at home is expected on a daily basis, 30 minutes or more if desired ..Individual and shared reading is so important....Please encourage your child to read every day at home so that he or she has the opportunity to develop a love of reading and all that it provides in the way of skills and interests... Literacy, as well as all areas of study, may be extended at home as deemed appropriate through journal writing, thematic project work, and practice as needed....The children love to recommend good books to the rest of the class, so keep those recommendations coming!!! Students may always share extra project work and writings with the class...We learn from each other and support each others' efforts!
